Karol Paweł Czaykowski (1847–1914) - was born in Zastaw as the eldest son of Teofil Czaykowski and Emilia née Rozwadowska. He is called the engineer from Zastaw. From 1872, he worked as a director on the construction of the Terespol railway. Then he built the Łuków - Lublin line. In 1892, he became the director of the Joint Stock Company Fabryki Machin i Odlewów K. Rudzki i S-ka, he headed the industrialists' circle operating at the Museum of Industry, as well as the mining plants in Starachowice. In 1910, he permanently settled in Warsaw and from then on he was involved in social and industrial projects. As the press reported: "The construction of railways, market halls and many other works largely owe their implementation to him." After his death, the newspapers noted: "he rendered serious service to national affairs. Possessing deep professional knowledge and a keen sense of citizenship, he gained universal respect and great respect in Polish industrial and technical circles.
