Waclaw Andrzej Rejmak alias “Ostoja”

Wacław Andrzej Rejmak pseudonym. "Ostoja" (1917–1945) – an outstanding soldier, commander of the Home Army and units of the independence underground. Participant of the Polish campaign, fought in the ranks of the "Poznań" Army under the command of General T. Kutrzeba. For exceptional bravery in battle, he was awarded the Virtuti Militari Cross and the Cross of Valor. In 1943, he commanded a unit of Kedyw in the Łuków District of the Home Army, and in 1944 he took command of the group in Jata near Łuków (a unit of 320 soldiers). Here he carried out preparations for Operation Storm and carried out combat operations against the German occupier as part of it, commanding one of the subunits of the reconstituted 35th Infantry Regiment. AK. The main activity of the branch was focused on road and railway diversion. The camp itself, located among inaccessible swamps, became a symbol of free Poland. In 1996, thanks to contributions from Home Army soldiers from the Łuków District, a monument commemorating the partisans was erected approximately 100 m from the site of the "Ostoja" unit's camp.
