Gen. Franciszek Kleeberg (1888–1941) - Brigadier General of the Polish Army. On September 9, he was entrusted with command of the Independent Operational Group "Polesie". Together with his unit on October 4 and 5, 1939 fought battles of the defensive war of 1939 near Kock, Serokomla and Wola Gułowska. On October 5, due to insufficient ammunition, medicine and food, he decided to surrender the last organized Polish unit. However, the battle was considered a victory for the Polish army, and Kleeberg himself issued the last order to the units of the Polish Army, thus ending the Polish campaign. After the battle, he was captured by the Germans and stayed in Oflag IVB. He died on April 5, 1941 in a German military hospital. He was buried at the cemetery in Neustadt, but in 1969, on the anniversary of the battle, his ashes were moved to the military cemetery in Kock. He was posthumously appointed major general on January 1, 1943. In 1989, on the 50th anniversary of the fighting at Wola Gułowska, the "Monument to the Combat Action of the Kleeberczyks" - a Cultural Center - was built in the village. the seat of the Kleeber Army Museum.
