Sanctuary of Our Lady, Patroness of the Soldiers of September in Wola Gułowska

The sanctuary of Our Lady Patroness of September Soldiers with the miraculous image of Our Lady Patroness of September Soldiers along with the Carmelite monastery. A legend is connected with the establishment of the sanctuary, according to which a villager from Wola Gulowska had an apparition of the Mother of God. Mary wished that the then owner of the village - Hieronim Rusiecki - would erect a chapel. And so, in 1549, a wooden shrine was erected in the place where the cross had been until then. Less than 85 years later, the next owner of Wola Gułowska, Ludwik Krasinski, founded a Carmelite monastery for the village, who, in addition to pastoral services, were to perform a missionary function against the then spreading Protestantism and Orthodoxy. In the temple was placed an image painted on a board from the 15th century, according to legend found in Lysoboki (today's Jeziorzany) in the 16th century, most likely removed by Calvinists from a church turned into a congregation. Numerous documented healings attest to the miraculousness of this image. Thanks to the image of Our Lady holding the Infant in her arms, the sanctuary has gained fame throughout Poland. On September 5, 1982, its coronation took place, and Our Lady of Gułowska was given the title of Patroness of September Soldiers, due to the fact that she witnessed the battles fought in this area in 1939.
